The Calm Before the Storm

It's Saturday morning. Kevin's internal alarm clock woke him (and hence us) up at 5:45. I convinced him to stay still until 6:30, but that's as long as my influence lasted. Now he's off at Men's Breakfast at our church. I should really be doing cleaning, but instead I'm sitting here with my Saturday morning bagel and watching Trading Spaces. I have the dishwasher running, as well as a load in the washer and a load in the dryer, so I can say that I technically am getting some of that weekend housework done. As long as I don't look at the mess behind me, I don't feel too (very awfully horribly) guilty.

I spent a good part of yesterday in the classroom, trying to get things together. I was called to interview for this position on Tuesday. Due to high enrollment, they decided to hire another 4th grade teacher, to decrease class size. As a result, each of us now has a class size of between 14-16 students. I taught 22 at one point last year, so this is a treat for me. Not only that, but in my class of 14, I have 10 girls and only 4 boys. This will be a completely different year. So I interviewed on Tuesday, they offered me the position on Wednesday, and said, "Open House is in a week. Be ready." And voila, I'm the new 4th grade teacher at Lynnhaven Elementary. Inservice starts on Monday, and that means I'm at work by 7:30.....so long to lazy summer morings. Things are about to get alot crazier

Plan for the day is to go to the insurance company to change our car insurance and switch our policy to a local agent. Then, it's headed to the outlets to see if we can find any more "back to school" deals. That being said, I really should get back to doing something productive....alright, I'm going.
