We finally got our official marriage license copies in the mail last weekend, so I took a trip down to the DMV today to get the name on my license changed. Now, I had been there about three weeks ago, for the same task. At that time, they told me, after I waited an hour for my turn, that they would be unable to make the change because they couldn't accept the signed copy of the marriage license that the minister had given us, it had to be a sealed copy. Which meant we had to order and then wait for those copies to come in the mail. I was pretty upset that I had just waited an hour to be told that I didn't have what I needed, so I asked them then what I needed to do. I was told just to bring back the sealed copy. Easy enough. I arrive today with sealed copy of the marriage license in hand. But wait....have I been to the social security office to have the name on my social security changed yet? No? Oh, well, their computers are linked with social security, so I'll have to do that before I can have the name on my license changed. Which meant that I spent another 40 minutes at the social security office, had my name changed in the system, and was told that it takes 48 hours to update. Looks like another trip to the DMV on Monday. Grrrrrr. Those women who say that they would like to keep their maiden name to keep from feeling as if they're giving up their identity? I bet it's really because they don't have the time to cut through all this tape. Smart women.
On the other hand, my KJ sent me a text message this morning that just completely made my day. Thank God for wonderful husbands and the little things that keep us going.
I've got someone who loves me more then words can say
And I'm thankful for that each and every day
And if I count all my blessings, I get a smile on my face
