Midweek

Wednesday night finds me looking forward to going to bed as soon as possible.

It started with a Special Ed meeting at 8:00 this morning that I found out about at .... 2:30 yesterday afternoon. Ooops.

We (the 4th grade team) took the kids on a field trip today to the Virginia Living Museum today. I had been there last year, when I taught fifth grade. It's a good field trip, very hands on, and my kids this year were boundlessly excited to see animals such as otters, opossum, wolves, 2 different types of foxes, beavers, bald eagles, coyotes, skunks, etc. We live near the oceanfront....these animals are not often seen in our area. As one of my kids commented, "I'd always wanted to see animals in the wild like this!" So they had a great time, and I enjoyed watching them take in the whole experience. However, I was exhausted by the time we got back. Riding the bus with approximately 40 fourth graders, all talking excitedly on the way up and then enthusiastically reliving the experience on the way back takes it's toll. Once we were off the bus and back in the classroom, I noticed that my hearing seemed dim. It took about an hour to come back fully.

Then the kids went home and I spent the next 2 1/2 hours in my classroom. Grading papers, overall cleaning, filing, reorganizing, and putting up my fall themed stuff. Came home and had leftover chinese for dinner and then did more schoolwork until 7. So a literal 12 hour day. Some days I'm pretty sure I'm not getting paid enough for this :P

I really have no other exciting details to relate. Life has fallen into a steady pattern and the beat goes on, as they say.

Oh! Our Trans-Siberian Orchestra tickets arrived today! "Excited" doesn't begin to describe how I'm looking forward to this show. They were in town last year, on the day after Thanksgiving when I wasn't here. This year, they are doing a performance the day BEFORE Thanksgiving and since I'll be here through Friday morning (Kev has duty Thanksgiving Day) there was no reason not to go! With the tickets in hand, I'm now impatiently awaiting for the concert date to arrive.

2 more days to the work week and then another weekend. Part of me has a hard time believing that next week is November already, which I calculate to mean "1/4 of the school year is over." But then another part of me is thinking about needing a few days off to breathe and regroup before moving into the next quarter.

And time marches on...
