Touche

Alright, alright. I hate to admit to being wrong, but I'm about to do so. Kevin constantly teases me about my lack of updates here, to which I respond that I update frequently, just not on a multi-daily basis....and then I got wrapped up in work and life and a week goes by before I think to journal again. And thus his point is made. *Sigh* Oh well. We can't be perfect all the time ;-)

I spent last weekend with Kev in Annapolis to celebrate his birthday. He's there for work and so I drove to Dover, DE on Friday afternoon and spent the night with a friend there. Then drove the last hour and a half from Dover to Annapolis on Saturday. Kevin was able to get us two tickets to the Naval Academy vs. Tulane football game. Homecoming for the Naval Academy. We had seats in the endzone, which for those who are true football fans is a disappointment, but didn't really phase me. We saw the Midshipmen march in and form on the field before the game. All 6,000 of them. Our own Virginia Beach Oceana pilots did a flyover and the parachute team "dropped" in. That was a first for me. How those guys can step out of a plane and then land perfectly on an "X" thousands of feet below is just beyond me. I'm glad somebody does it, though. It makes a great show.
It was pretty obvious where the game was going when Navy scored within the first 5 minutes of the game. This was followed by 2 interceptions and 2 more touchdowns until finally, a few minutes before halftime, Tulane scored. Still, it wasn't enough and Navy was able to claim a certain victory by the time we left halfway through the 4th quarter.
We had a room at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Baltimore. I had been there almost 15 years ago, and was at the time impressed by how big and "glittery" it seemed. I was equally as impressed this time. We would definitely stay there again. Our plan was to go to dinner at Cheesecake Factory, but they don't accept reservations and by the time we changed from the football game and got there, we were informed the wait for a table would be three hours. I love Cheesecake Factory and had been looking forward to the meal but no meal is worth a three hour wait. We ended up eating at California Pizza Kitchen instead.
After a leisurely breakfast the next morning, we went to Kevin's old church in DC and visited with people there. I dropped Kevin back off in Annapolis and then headed back home to frantically finish lesson plans before going back to work on Monday. Phew!
I only had to teach two days this week, with parent conferences the next two days and then a day off (finally! woohoo! bells, whistles, and much rejoicing!!!) on Friday. You would think that that would have made this an easy week. But oh no. The grading period ended TODAY. Which means we teachers were taking grades up until 2:30 TODAY. So the school then sets a deadline to have report cards done...before we can leave work on THURSDAY. And conference with every parent between those now and then. Grrrrr.

So now it's time for a little "me" time before bed.

Goodnight, all!

You know where I am, and I know where you are, but nobody knows where we both are! Secretive.

Hope you have fun with your parents. Make an update telling me all about it.

You'll need to have it up by next Tuesday to keep up with your once-a-week pattern. ;-)
