Where's There's Smoke, There's Usually Fire

My respect for Tom Cruise has gone downhill since he publicly blasted Brooke Shields for taking medicine for post-partum depression. Despite his personal beliefs, which he is entitled to, I felt that publicly criticizing Shields for a very personal decision was out of line.

Now, how's this for irony?

Yesterday, Katie Holmes gave birth to a baby girl....and so did Brooke Shields.

The rumor is that Cruise's Scientology beliefs were paramount in the delivery room. The doctors, nurses, and Holmes herself were forbidden to speak. Holmes isalso not to speak to her new daughter for the next seven days and to have limited contact.

Is this a joke?

Please allow me have a moment to state my opinion on this: When it comes time for me to deliver our first child, there will NOT be silence in the delivery room. If God had intended natural childbirth to be a silent experience, he would have found another way of delivery. Nor will anybody be able to tell me that I will not be able to talk or have contact with my new baby.

I will admit, this is all based on media news and speculation, I have no idea if it is true. But even the thought...

It takes all kinds of people, I suppose.

I totally agree with the birthing thing! I think the only reason Tom is/was so adamant about the silent birthing thing is because HE doesn't actually have to give birth!

That Tom Cruise! That placenta-eatin', couch-hopping, Brooke-bashing nitwit!

God help his child. Let's hope Katie sees the light and ditches him. Just like Nicole did. And Mimi.

I read somewhere else (again, rumors) that Cruise is planning on drawing up paperwork that would give him custody of the new baby, should he and Katie divorce.

Something about making plans for custody of your newborn child, before you're married, with the mindset that you may be someday divorced.... what a mess.
