Last week, we "caught" one of my ESL students writing his date on the top of the page:
13/5/07
We had to explain to him that after December, the month goes back to 1. I'm still not sure he really understands it.
Thus ends today's entry for 13/09/07

In most places around the world, that date would be read as the 13th of May, 2007. day-month-year is an ever-growing method. Month-day-year is really odd. But it's our odd and we'll keep it. Just like how we rejected the metric system. I had classes on the metric system in 4th and 5th grade. What? We still travel in miles? We still weigh in pounds? The only concessions: liter bottles and 400 meter relays.
