A Weekend at Home

It's been a long time since we've had a weekend just to chill out at home. Since Christmas, there's always been something going on.

On Friday, the day started with a phone call from Kevin at 6:00 telling me that the he had broken down on the side of the interstate and needed me to come pick him up. Fortunately, he had only gotten a few miles up the road. I was there in a record 7 minutes from the time he called. We called AAA, and then waited a half hour for them to arrive. After towing the car to the dealership, it was back home to shower and to call our respective places of employment to tell them we would be running late. That night, it was a Hail and Farewell at the Captain's house. By the time we got home, it was all I could do to haul myself into bed.

Saturday, Kevin got up early to go to the 7:30 Men's Breakfast at church. I fell back asleep and didn't wake up again until he came BACK at 9:15. Oops. So Saturday was cleaning and putzing around the house. By 4:00 yesterday afternoon, cabin fever had set in. We went to Barnes and Noble to pick up this book for me, as I enter the third quarter with my kiddies. Much to Kevin's delight, we hit the last day of Teacher Appreciation Week and I was able to use my 25% discount towards ALL purchases.

We hit up Bella Pizzeria for dinner, a local restaurant specializing in New York style pizz and giant calzones. We'd decided we wanted to see 3-time Golden Globe nominated Notes on a Scandal. I'm a Judi Dench fan, but I've never seen her play a role like this before. Interesting for her. We picked Naro Cinema downtown. They claim to be one of the oldest movie theatres on the east coast. The type that has one screen, a balcony, a teeny tiny lobby, curtains that are in front of the screen. Today, it shows Rocky Horror Picture Show and indie films. Would have been a good experience if the theatre weren't completely filthy. Popcorn everywhere, trash on the floor, half empty cups left in cupholders. Just gross. Movie was good, though!

Today was church and then a very chill day at home. Kinda behind on my lesson plans for tomorrow, but it'll come together. For now, just ending the weekend on a relaxing note.
