On Saturday, our plans kinda fell through, so we ended up seeing Knocked Up. Despite the lewd language and the drug and sex references (this is definitely an adult film) this movie had, as Kevin put it, "more depth to it than I expected." Not what I had bargained on seeing, but interesting nonetheless. A couple times in the last months, I've seen Hollywood cast your not-so-attractive male in leading male roles. It's a trend worth thinking about. Not that it's not pleasant to watch Orlando Bloom save the world from the living dead, but there aren't so many Orlando Blooms out there in the real world. After that, date night continued with a couple hours at the local fireman's carnival, where we dined on cotton candy, funnel cake and popcorn, and concluded with a stop at Tropical Smoothie Cafe for a smoothie before taking the long way home. A good night.
Bottom line: It took me the weekend to really recover from last week's roller coaster ride, but here's what I've decided:
1. I'll be staying for another year, as Kevin is currently looking for a new assignment elsewhere and we don't anticipate being here after next year. If we are, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
2. I'm going to go back to being self-contained (as opposed to teaming), so that I don't have to play a waiting game all summer until they hire somebody new.
So that's that. We have a full day of school tomorrow and then Wednesday and Thursday are half-days. In some ways, the last 9 months have sped by. But there are other moments (and I had one today) when I feel like making it through the next couple days is going to be a stretch. There is just one child, in particular, that I need a break from. Soon.

It is those "particular" children that reminds us that being a teacher is not "all about teaching", but about providing a safe and loving environment where someone acutally cares about the future of our children. Teaching is a vocation not a career! I love you, SweetStuff!
