On an Impulse

We woke up yesterday with nowhere to go, nothing to see, nothing to do. Instead of finding this appealing, this half of "we" quickly became bored.

So...

We went to Busch Gardens. It had been years since I'd been to a theme park, and I'm not much of a roller coaster person, but we had a blast. The weather was perfect, about 75 and sunny, the crowds were large, but tolerable. Anheuser-Busch theme parks (Busch Gardens,Sea World, Water Country, and Sesame Place) have a program where military and up to 4 dependents can access free passes to each park, once a year. For us, that meant we were waived the $54.95 per person admission fee. A huge savings.

It was about noon by the time we arrived, so we headed over to Germany where we had lunch and saw a dance performance. The next several hours were spent on rides, before a private dinner at Bistro, and then to see Kinetix. It was only half an hour, but may have been one of the most spectacualar shows I have ever seen. It was like Cirque de Soleil set to a modern, contemporary musical background. There were swing artists, an aerial performer, trampoline artists, a juggler, and an acrobat, in addition to the dance company and two vocal performers.

We arrived home and fell in bed in bed around 11. An impulsive day, but we agreed that one of the most fun days we've had in awhile.

Oh... and I don't have to do lesson plans today!!

Alpinegeist was my favorite coaster in that park. By a long margin.

And you know the trouble with German food? Two weeks later, you're hungry again. [ba-dum-bump].

I'll be here all week, folks. Tip the waitresses!

Alpengeist actually gives you a ride long enough to appreciate. It actually makes the long wait in line seem worth it.
