I Married Smart

For what seems like the millionth time, I'm admitting that I make a lousy military spouse. It's not that I'm not proud or supportive or patriotic, or all those things society says I'm supposed to be. 'Cuz I am. But when we had to postpone a third vacation in as many months due to his ever-changing schedule, I got a little peeved. These next six months will be a challenge as he is more often "out" than "in". It's times like this where I feel as if I should say, "It's okay, honey, see you when you get back!" But I don't. Not always, anyway.

Luckily, I married smart.

Kevin left Monday morning for a six-week deployment to the British Isles. I stayed in PA a few extra days and got home last night. I immediately checked the spot where I usually find a card hidden when he leaves. Nope. Nothing. Later that night, however, I found the card I was looking for, in a different location. I am, the card informed me, on a six week scavenger hunt, with a new clue being revealed to me each week. Oh, and the kicker? The clues are already in place somewhere in the house.

It's taking all my willpower not to go searching now.

But it gives me something to do over the next six weeks.

What a smart man.

I like the new appearance on the blog. I liked the old one, too.

You fought me tooth and nail to take that picture. In fact, I dare say that's more of a grimace than a grin. Is it possible that the picture-taking ordeal was not quite so bad after all? ;-)

Hey! Aren't you on the sea and not by the sea these days?
