Not an Intelligent Sort of Day

Today was not a day for the intelligent. And I include myself in that statement. Consider the two following examples:

This morning I got up at 5:30, my usual time. I am NEVER a morning person, but this morning was worse than usual and gettting myself out of bed was a major feat. However, that does not excuse what happened next. I took a hot shower....and forgot to wash my hair. I remember being in the shower. I even remember holding the shampoo bottle. But somehow the shampoo never made it from the bottle to my hair. I realized this 45 minutes later when I was drying my hair and "it just didn't feel right." Thank goodness for longer hair. Pulled it back and nobody noticed. Except for me.

Not convinced yet that people lost all rational thought today? Read on....

As I was coming home from work this afternoon, I turned the corner from the neighborhood street where my school is located, towards the major roadways and BAM! Traffic stopped dead a 1/4 mile from the light. I sat slowly inching forward, wondering what was going on that caused traffic to back up like this, at an intersection where traffic moves pretty quickly, despite its heavy volume (whoa...can we say "run-on sentence?"). As I finally neared the light and stopped yet again, I had my answer. Some poor dope had dropped his business portfolio at the corner of the intersection. Apparently, these papers were important, as he and two buddies were dodging in and out of traffic, in front and behind cars, and with the flow of the traffic to pick up all the loose papers. This at a MAJOR intersection, approaching an on ramp to one of the two main interstates. The fact that nobody was hit was a major credit to our otherwise lousy local drivers. Incredible.

So today was not a day to be brilliant.

Perhaps tomorrow will bring a fresh wave of reason.

One can hope.
