We have, after much consideration, decided on a name for our new little addition. She came to us as Spaz and we decided that didn't suit her. Kevin wanted to name her Sally... because it rhymes with Callie. This name caused my nose to involuntarily wrinkle. My kids at school had thirty suggestions, ranging from White Tiger to Snowball to Princess. None of these seemed to suit, either. I've been pressuring Kevin to come up with a name, as I've been calling her Little Kitty. This morning, inspiration hit me and upon suggesting it to my partner in crime, we agreed. We've named her Scarlett, after the infamous Scarlett O'Hara. This name appeals to my husband's Atlanta roots and suits her perfectly. She is sweet and lovable and cuddly. But don't be fooled. There's a little spitfire under all that innocence. And when she's tired of being loved upon, she lets you know it. Last night, she hissed at me because my feet where in the spot she wanted to sleep in on MY bed. Yup. Scarlett it is.
In other news, anyone whose read my husband's journal knows that birthdays are a big deal. He usually starts planning for his next birthday on November 2nd...his birthday being on November 1st. Hence, birthdays in our household are "birthday weekends." This is my birthday weekend, and so I've had this great "you-don't-have-to-do-anything" kind of day. Slept in this morning, and then treated myself to a manicure and pedicure while Kevin did a couple loads of laundry and cleaned the bathroom (a chore I detest). We then went grocery shopping together and he put most of the groceries away. We went to Value City Furniture and bought a curio cabinet we've had our eye on. Our last stop was at the Home Depot, where we picked up some flowers for a large potted arrangement I wanted to create on the corner of our deck. We potted those together and now Kevin's doing the second load of dishes in the dishwasher as I type. I offered to help and was refused. I like this birthday weekend stuff!
We have late reservations tonight at The Melting Pot. This is a once a year type of place for us, but so enjoyable when we do get the opportunity to go. I'm off to soak in the tub and continue my day of fun and relaxation. Hope your weekend is going as well as ours is.

Why, I just can't think about that today. I'll just have to think about that tomorrow.
After all...tomorrow is anuthah day.
Frankly, my dear, I think you've selected the perfect name.
In my view, there's GWTW in one category and every other movie ever made in the other.
I firmly believe in birthday weekends, and in fact, in birthday WEEKS. My hubby believes in "birthday minutes". Yeah.
One year, he griped that my birthday wasn't "a national holiday, you know", but guess what? It IS on a national holiday every few years. Hee.
Have fun!!!
