We decided to stay in last night, so I stopped at the local Hollywood Video on the way home and picked up The Wedding Crashers. I (we?) had resisted seeing this movie, as it looked way too pointless for me. I'm all for a good comedy, but there's a thin line between funny and just plain ol' dumb. However, everybody seems to have seen this movie and I wanted to be able to relate.
I was pleasantly surprised. First off, it was like playing Name That Movie, as the cast is such a varied collection of well-known faces. Owen Wilson and Christopher Vaughn were highly publicized in their roles. However, I also picked out Jane Seymour, Christopher Walken, Rachel McAdams, and Will Ferrell. It's laugh-out-loud funny. Predictable ending, yes. Some over the top lines, yes. But overall, a funny movie.
After running errands this morning, we went to the matinee of Hollywoodland. We both HIGHLY recommend this one, for a thinker film. Ben Afleck gave a surprisingly adult performance and Adrian Brody was perfect for his role. The story centers around the mysterious death of actor George Reeves, the original Superman. No attempt is made, at the end of the film, to put a neat, conclusive ending on a 50 year old mystery. Instead, several theories are explored and left open-ended. The theater was completely silent as the last scene ended and the credits began to roll.
There are several historical inaccuracies in the film, but I would recommend seeing the movie first and then comparing it to reality. Definitely a story that causes one to go "hmmmmm...."

Hey,
Just wanted to wish you good luck with your own teaching! Sounds like you've got your work cut out for you, that's for sure. I hope all is well!
What state are you in, by the way? It's hard to tell, as your husband is in the Navy. Speaking of which, good luck dealing with the 10 week absence! Let me know if there's anything I can do to help!
Thanks! It'll be a challenge, but I'm always up for something new, right?
:P
We're living in Virginia, which we love, but I grew up in rural Pennsylvania and my husband grew up in Atlanta....we are diverse.
Stop back in again, more stories of my darling kiddies and my upcoming 10 weeks of "single-hood" forthcoming!
