Movie Review: A Prairie Home Companion

I just finished watching A Prairie Home Companion. I picked it up mainly because my husband, reared on the old-time gospel and bluegrass, is a faithful Sunday listener on the NPR station here. The movie holds alot of potential. An all star cast including Garrison Keillor himself, Woody Harrleson, Tommy Lee Jones, Kevin Kline, Lindsay Lohan, John C. Reilly, Meryl Streep, and Lily Tomlin. Wow.

And yet....disappointing. It's one of those movies that revolves around a concept, not a storyline. To make this work, you have to tie the concept up completely. This movie does not do that. There's too many unanswered questions, too many loose ends, and not enough character development.

I recommend giving this one a miss.

Oh, and to my reader in Ontario: Do leave a comment so I know who you are...and if you have a site I can visit in return. Thanks for dropping by!
