When I was little, and something happened like, we said something mean and then tripped on a step, Mom would say, "That's just God's angel smacking you upside the head. You'd better listen!"
My coteacher just found out that she's pregnant. She is experiencing the all day morning sickness that comes with the first trimester. She, in fact, threw up twice between 8 and 11. One of my kids spit up after lunch...and then felt just fine, thank you very much. That would have been enough for one day, but I still had to attend a very frustrating grad class. So frustrating, that I was fuming on the way out and fumbling for my cell phone to vent my frustration, and slipped off the last concrete step, turned my ankle and went down as UNgracefully as possible. Banged and scraped my knee and the whole upper part of my left foot. 4 men were coming out behind me. Only one of them stopped to ask if I was alright. Which I was, though pretty well humiliated. I got home and fed the cats, and the elder one promptly threw up her dinner, on the carpet, in two different locations. While I was cleaning up one location, the younger cat helped by EATING the mess at the other.
Smack! Smack! Smack!
