Time Shift

The time shift has completely thrown off my internal clock. I'm waking up earlier, because it's lighter, but still tired, so I toss and turn for an hour before finally getting up. But then, it's dark at 5:00 and I'm thinking, "Hmmm? How early can I go to bed?" The whole thing is really kickin' my butt.

"Things" had really seemed to fall into place for us last week, and we really thought that we'd established where we were heading in the next year or so. Then, on Monday night, I learned that my GRE scores were not enough to admit me to the graduate program I was otherwise completely qualified for. 30 points was all it took to stop all planning in its tracks. The deadline is December 1st, so it's not like there's time to retake the test, and get the scores in to the University. This caused a whole tizzy in our household until today, when I found out that they will be willing to overlook that detail, as long as all other details (including overall undergraduate GPA, 2 letters of recommendation, admission essay, and, of course, $45 processing fee) are in place. Y'all can probably hear my tremendous sigh of relief from where you are.

Monday and Tuesday were parent teacher conferences--kids had no school, I worked all day. But since the kids just had two days off, that means they have to go to school on this coming Monday, Veteran's Day. So I do, too.

Bummer.

First day of vacation is the half day the day before Thanksgiving.

Yeah. I'm ready.
